“Shake off those guilty fears, arise …”

The words of today’s caption are from a song sung on Sunday mornings at my church.  Our single stock of wheat  in today’s image seems ready to shake off it’s snow covering  to arise to grow again  after a winter’s nap under a protective blanket of snow.  Wishing you joy as you await the gift of a new spring. Arise.

One of my first thoughts on this image was, “How can that little sprig of wheat be carrying and balancing such a heavy load?!” Then I thought about the heavy loads that I often bear on myself–unrealistic expectations, regret of past mistakes, fears of the what the future could hold etc. I realized the freedom we have in God who takes these burdens upon himself and beckons us to trust him with them and move forward in his strength. What a good reminder that his presence gives us rest from our heavy loads and that his burden is surely light in comparison. Thanks Ingrid for the reminder to “shake off our guilty fears.”
